Reindeer "Moss" (cladonia spp) is actually a lichen, growing in pillow-like colonies of dense, branching ground cover. Because of this branching structure, Reindeer Moss provides above-average sound absorption properties, while being eco-friendly & chemical free. In fact, it’s up to twice as effective for sound absorption than the industry average. Additionally, it is low maintenance, and doesn’t require any watering, sunlight, or trimming. The Reindeer Moss is stabilized using various salts, which makes it fire-resistant, durable and maintenance-free.
KEY BENEFITS
Unlike regular sound proofing tiles, Reindeer Moss actively purifies the air through a constant cycle of humidity absorption and release. Reindeer Moss dries when the relative humidity falls below 40%, and returns soft again above 40%. It has no roots and absorbs water through the air.
At a relative humidity of 40% to 80% and kept out of direct sunlight, Reindeer Moss will remain looking the same and feeling soft almost indefinitely. Due to its hygroscopic properties, Reindeer Moss typically does not require any dusting. If vacuuming is however required, we recommend a low suction setting and/or using an extension brush.
